How can we help you

NHS Charges

NHS dental care is charged in 3 bands according to complexity.

At present- NHS charges are: Band 1 £25.80 Band 2 £70.70 Band 3 £306.80

Your dentist will advise you of which band is applicable to you. The poster in our waiting room has information about the cost of NHS treatment. Your dentist will advise you of the cost of any private treatment.

Some NHS patients are entitled to either full or partial exemption from NHS charges. If you are in one of the following categories you may qualify:

  • Under 18
  • Aged 18 and in full time education
  • An expectant mother/ this is a time when dental health can deteriorate seriously. Regular care is essential and free under the NHS
  • A mother with a child under one year
  • A family receiving Income Support or income (based Jobseeker’s allowance or Pension Credit Guarantee Card)
  • You are entitled to, or named on a valid NHS tax credit exemption certificate
  • You are named on a valid HC2 certificate.

If in doubt, please ask at the reception.

Under NHS regulations a patient can be asked to pay charges at commencement of treatment. Please be prepared to do this, or when asked to do so by the receptionist.
If following a check-up you need further treatment, we will give you a treatment plan showing the estimated cost involved. We accept cash, cheque and card payments.
At the end of your course of treatment, your dentist will discuss with you when you will need to see a dentist again. NHS dentists now follow guidelines issued by the National Institute for clinical Excellence (NICE)-Link. This means you will attend as often as is needed to keep your teeth and gums healthy and may no longer need a check up every six months.
